Straight out of New York City, La Pachamambo is a 10 piece latin orchestra dedicated to the meticulous restoration and revival of salsa, mambo and boogaloo hits of days gone by. Channeling the likes Hector Lavoe, Celia Cruz, Ray Baretto and beyond, La Pachamambo instantly transports audiences to New York City in the 1960’s and 1970’s where salsa was born. From the moment they take the stage, La Pachamambo conjures a palpable energy that hits the audience like a tropical heat wave and makes the dance floor irresitible to anyone within earshot. Directed by pianist and composer Kate Dunphy, La Pachamambo features the vocalist Bryan Martinez of the Dominican Republic and Cristina Kaminis of Mexico. With roots in Colombia and Cuba, together the band delivers a tropical dance party that pays tribute to the salsa legends while incorporating their own contemporary arrangements of pop and jazz hits. La Pachamambo performs several nights a week in some of the hottest venues in NYC where their shows are attended by dancers, musicians and Latin music lovers alike. Since forming in 2015, the group has also played to packed houses in Italy,, the Dominican Republic, Mexico and throughout the United States. Aguzate, the group’s debut album, was released in 2017. A new album will be released in 2019.
